Additional Information

Agency Name: Geological Survey
Description: The U.S. Geological Survey¿s Northern Prairie Wildlife Research Center (NPWRC) is offering a funding opportunity to a CESU partner for research to support investigations exploring influences of changing land-cover types (e.g., grassland to cropland) on habitat suitability for five anuran species; northern leopard frog (Lithobates pipiens), wood frog (Lithobates sylvatica), boreal chorus toad (Pseudacris maculata), Great Plains toad (Anaxyrus cognatus), and Woodhouse¿s toad (Anaxyrus woodhousii). Grassland habitats in the Prairie Pothole Region (PPR) of North America are being converted to croplands at an alarming rate. In support of this project, a Cooperative Ecosystem Studies Unit (CESU) partnership will focus on replicating the work conducted by Mushet et al. (2012) and using the new acquired data, in combination with the data collected from the 2008 and 2009 surveys, to explore changes in amphibian-habitat quality and occurrence of species as influence by changes in land cover.
