Additional Information

Agency Name: Fish and Wildlife Service
Description: See Attached Notice of Intent.

“The U.S. Navy (NAVFAC Pacific) and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) will be conducting arthropod surveys on Pagan Island during the summer months of 2010. Surveys will be targeted towards important native species, species of concern, and invasive species toward successful completion of a NEPA report of Pagan Island. A full natural history survey will be done on Pagan and the arthropods will be an essential component of that.

Bishop Museum staff shall provide consultation to entomologists from NAVFAC and the USFWS for survey work to be conducted on Pagan and to identify specimens collected during these surveys. Bishop Museum staff shall identify, to the lowest taxonomic level possible, as many if not all specimens collected as possible and within the timeframe allotted. Identifications will be based on in-house expertise with outside expertise consulted if further resolution is required. It is estimated that total number of species to be identified will be from 400 to 600. “
