UCLA, in partnership with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, is offering a grant to conduct a basic metapopulation viability analysis (MVA) for the endangered tidewater goby. The project aims to meet the recovery criterion by ensuring a 75 percent or better chance of persistence for a minimum of 100 years in each of the six Recovery Units. Tasks include scientifically credible monitoring and analysis to assess the goby’s viability. Applications are due by May 15, 2015.

Description: | The University of California, Los Angeles, in collaboration with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (Service), has been developing a framework to complete a basic metapopulation viability analysis (MVA) for the endangered tidewater goby (Eucyclogobius newberryi). The recovery criterion for the goby states that an MVA based on scientifically credible monitoring over a 10-year period must indicate that each of the six Recovery Units have a 75 percent or better chance of persistence for a minimum of 100 years for downlisting. We have outlined the following tasks to complete a basic MVA for the tidewater goby to assess this recovery criterion. Objective is to complete a basic metapopulation viability analysis for the endangered tidewater goby (Eucyclogobius newberryi) |
