This grant is for the University of California, Davis’s Information Center for the Environment (UCD ICE) to undertake a critical evaluation of climate change impacts on National Wildlife Refuges (NWRs). Funded by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) Pacific Southwest Region Refuges Inventory and Monitoring Initiative (R8 I&M), the project’s primary purpose is to assess how climate change affects NWR water management. UCD ICE will also identify significant water resource constraints that impact current and planned habitat management objectives, utilizing the Basin Characterization Model (BCM). This single-source agreement recognizes UCD ICE’s unique technical expertise in this field. The project is slated for completion between June 2012 and September 2014.
