Additional Information

Agency Name: Fish and Wildlife Service
Description: NOTICE OF INTENT TO AWARD This Funding Announcement is not a request for applications. This announcement is to provide public notice of the US Fish & Wildlife Service’s intention to fund the following project activities without full and open competition. In accordance with Department of the Interior guidance (505 DM 2.14) the Fish and Wildlife Service Division of International Conservation provides notice of its intent to make a single-source award in the amount of $55,000.00 via a cooperative agreement with the Saiga Conservation Alliance.

The purpose of this cooperative agreement is to cooperatively manage a small-grants competition in the range states of the saiga antelope. The Saiga Conservation Alliance (SCA), a U.K. registered charity, is uniquely positioned in its capacity to conduct a competitive small grants program in the range states of the critically endangered saiga antelope because of their expertise in the field of saiga conservation, their networking in the Central Asia range states, their track record in administering an international small grants program, and their foreign language skills which allow them to effectively communicate with numerous countries. Membership in SCA is comprised of some of the world’s leading saiga antelope scientists and conservationists from a broad range of nations. SCA has had prior experience since 2007 in conducting a multi-country small grants program, including with U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service financial support in 2011. SCA conducts widespread outreach about saiga conservation in 6 languages (English, Chinese, Kazakh, Mongolian, Russian, Uzbek) which is an unparalleled achievement. SCA is providing their own additional contribution of $5,050.
