Additional Information

Agency Name: Geological Survey
Description: The US Geological Survey is offering a funding opportunity to a CESU partner to develop a small, uncrewed aircraft system (sUAS)-based software-defined (SD) ground-penetrating radar (GPR) platform to assess snowpack metrics. This particular research shall advance previous studies to assess avalanche risk in real-time using a low-cost, rapid, and high-resolution sUAS platform for field assessments of snow properties that may be indicative of avalanche risk. Integrating and SD GPR will (1) improve safety, (2) reduce operational costs, (3) improve real-time data delivery, and (4) improve monitoring of complex snowpack conditions.
