Additional Information on Eligibility: | ELIGIBILITY: This funding opportunity is ONLY available for Cooperative Ecosystem Studies Units under the Californian, Desert Southwest, or Great Basin CESU Regions. In accordance with the 10 USC 670c-1, Sikes Act, projects for the implementation and enforcement of integrated natural resources management plans, priority shall be given to Federal and State agencies having responsibility for the conservation or management of fish or wildlife. |

Project Title: California Least Tern and Western Snowy Plover Nest Monitoring and Raptor Management on Naval Base Coronado, San Diego, California Responses to this Request for Statements of Interest will be used to identify potential investigators for this project. Approximately $665,667 is expected to be available to support this project for the base year. Additional funding may be available for additional tasks and/or follow on work in subsequent fiscal years up to $3,328,335 for the successful Recipient/Awardee. Background: The work will involve: the monitoring and research of populations of the federally endangered California Least Tern (Sternula antillarum browni, CLT) and the federally threatened Western Snowy Plover (Charadrius nivosus nivosus, WSP) along with Raptor Management on NBC, including Naval Air Station North Island (NASNI), Naval Amphibious Base Coronado (NAB), and Silver Strand Training Complex South (SSTC-S). Brief Description of Anticipated Work: This research focuses on the following objectives: “See Attached Statement of Objectives” NOTE: At this time we are only requesting that you demonstrate available qualifications and skills for performing similar or same type of work. You will be evaluated for request for a proposal based on skills and qualifications demonstrated in your SOI. Period of Performance: The period of performance for the base period will be 18 months starting from the date of award. The period of performance includes 12 months of fieldwork, plus 6 months to draft and prepare final reports, and submit and pay final invoices. These element s are non-severable. Option Periods: Four 18-month option periods are anticipated based on project conditions and needs. The first Option Period will start 12 months from the beginning of the Base Period as shown below there will be 6 months of overlapping to allow for 12 full months of data and 6 months of data analysis and reporting activities for each effort. Note: A full study proposal and proposed budget are NOT requested at this time.
