Additional Information

Agency Name: Liberia USAID-Monrovia
Description: The purpose of this program description (PD) is to define the parameters of a five year, election support program for USAID/Liberia. The objective is to provide timely support through technical assistance and some material support to assist Liberia’s National Elections Commission (NEC) to conduct specific electoral exercises that are vital to the continued democratic transition underway in Liberia. These exercises include constituency boundary delimitation, design a revised voter registration system, holding a national referendum to amend the Constitution, and support holding local elections. In addition to these exercises, the program description also calls for capacity building training for the entire NEC, including for temporary staff hired to assist with the conduct of electoral events, such as by-elections, as needed. Finally, the PD requires a program of support to the NEC for nationwide civic and voter education to inform and sensitize Liberians about some important new changes in the election landscape as a result of these exercises.
