Agency Name: Uganda USAID-Kampala
Description: The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Uganda is seeking applications for a $36,000,000 five-year Cooperative Agreement to address literacy and retention issues in 28 districts in Uganda by geographically expanding the Early Grade Reading (EGR) methodology developed on behalf of Ministry of Education and Sports (MoES) by USAID/Uganda’s School Health and Reading Program as described in Section A of this RFA. The overarching purpose of the Literacy Achievement and Retention Activity is to improve the reading skills of primary-grade learners in government schools in Uganda through the scale up of the EGR methodology. The activity aims to improve literacy by supporting interventions that (1) improve key aspects of reading skills in both English and 3 of the 12 selected local languages in the early primary grades, and (2) improve the year-to-year retention of learners in the primary grades through safe school environments.
