Additional Information

Agency Name:: Fish and Wildlife Service
Description:: The purpose is to reestablish native Bonneville cutthroat trout in streams negatively impacted by the Twitchel Forest Fire in the Clear Creek drainage in Fish Lake National Forest, Utah. Recent postfire storm events increased erosion and carried ash into streams that resulted in the demise of BCT in Fish Creek, Mill Creek, and others. We plan to improve Bonneville cutthroat trout habitat in effected streams in the drainage to ensure that viable populations of native fishes, primarily Bonneville cutthroat trout , are restored and sustained. WNTI funding has been applied for and secured for USFWS and UDWR to implement objectives that are to design a barrier near the Clear Creek and Sevier River confluence, and to transfer native fish into the Clear Creek and tributaries. Barrier design will emphasize prevention of nonnative fish movement into upstream segments of the Clear Creek drainage, which drainage will be treated, stocked and managed for native BCT following the construction and operation of the barrier.
