| Description: | The purpose of this agreement is to provide through the Federal Noxious Weed Act, P.L. 93-629, Section 15, as amended cooperative agreements with State agencies to coordinate the management of undesirable plant species on Federal lands.Financial assistance to facilitate the coordination and sharing of resources for treatment of noxious weeds throughout watersheds associated with National Wildlife Refuge System Lands. The FWS has responsibility to eradicate, contain, and prevent the spread of noxious weeds on refuge system lands and outside their boundaries. Cooperation between USFWS and Counties will result in operational efficiencies in resource management when working with an intermingled land ownership goals. Agreements shall: 1) prioritize and target undesirable plant species of group of species to be controlled or contained within a specific geographic area; 2) describe the integrated management system to be used to control or contain the targeted undesirable plant species or group of species; and 3) detail the means of implementing the integrated management system, define the duties of the FWS and the Counties in prosecuting that method, and establish a timeframe for the initiation and completion of the tasks specified in the integrated management system. Matching funds will not be required but encouraged. |
