The USGS is offering a grant to CESU partners for research on movement patterns of wading birds and bobcats in coastal ecosystems impacted by freshwater restoration in South Florida. The research aims to understand the spatial ecology of bobcats in the Greater Everglades and their habitats during dry and wet seasons. This opportunity contributes to Greater Everglades restoration efforts by providing valuable information for decision-making. Partners with expertise in monitoring and modeling tools are encouraged to apply by July 26, 2019.

Additional Information
Agency Name: | Geological Survey |
Description: | The USGS is offering a funding opportunity to a CESU partner for research in movement patterns of wading birds in coastal ecosystems impacted by upstream freshwater restoration. The USGS Greater Everglades Priority Ecosystems Science (Davie, FL) and Wetland and Aquatic Research Center (Gainesville, FL) is offering a funding opportunity for research and technical assistance relevant to: Spatial ecology of bobcats (Lynx rufus) in the Greater Everglades. The USGS conducts ecological and hydrologic research and monitoring in support of Greater Everglades restoration efforts throughout South Florida, in conjunction with its Federal, State, and local partners. Research conducted by USGS scientists and their research partners advances the understanding of the Greater Everglades restoration and the potential influence of environmental change on ecosystem restoration. USGS¿s research provides valuable information which contributes to decision-making during restoration. The USGS is offering an opportunity to CESU partners with the capability to use cutting-edge monitoring and modeling tools to explore how an important mesopredator in the Everglades utilizes habitats during the dry and wet seasons, particularly during high water events. |
