Description: The US Geological Survey is offering a funding opportunity to a CESU partner for research in River channel morphodynamics in the western Grand Canyon segment of the Colorado River in Grand Canyon National Park.The purpose of this research opportunity is to conduct research on the rates and spatial patterns of vertical incision and lateral bank erosion of former reservoir sediment in the now riverine reach of the Lake Mead Delta. This will involve the analysis of repeat topographic and bathymetric surveys of the riverbed and riverbanks, analysis of channel change from aerial photographs, and integration of these data with measurements and estimates of streamflow and sediment transport.
