No. 109-318, 120 Stat 1745, establishes the Yuma Crossing National Heritage Area (hereinafter ⿿YCNHA⿝) and directs the Secretary of the Interior to enter into a compact with the YCNHA⿿s management entity, the Yuma Crossing National Heritage Area Corporation (hereinafter ⿿Yuma Crossing⿝). Unless otherwise specified herein, the terms and conditions as stated in the Cooperative Agreement P12AC30244 will apply to this Task Agreement.

National Heritage Areas are places where natural, cultural, historic and scenic resources combine to form a cohesive, nationally important landscape arising from human activity shaped by geography. These patterns make National Heritage Areas representative of the national experience through the physical features that remain and the traditions that have evolved in them. These regions are acknowledged by Congress for their capacity to tell nationally important stories about our nation.

The Yuma Crossing National Heritage Area will support community historic preservation and environmental conservation initiatives that are associated with its approved Management Plan and serve a public purpose under PL 106-319, as amended by PL 109-318. The heritage area will also conduct public outreach and programming projects.
