Additional Information
| Agency Name: | Office for Victims of Crime |
| Description: | To address the problem of human trafficking in the United States, Congress passed, and the President signed into law, the TVPA of 2000 (22 U.S.C. § 7101 et. seq.), which was amended by the Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act of 2003, and again amended in 2005, 2008, and 2013. The TVPA seeks to combat âÂÂsevere formsâ of human trafficking by punishing traffickers, protecting victims, and mobilizing U.S. Government agencies to wage a global anti-trafficking campaign.
OVC strives to uphold the intent of the TVPA and its subsequent authorizations to ensure that all trafficking victims, regardless of immigration status, gender, age, or form of trafficking, receive support in accessing the services they need to heal in the aftermath of crime victimization. Sex trafficking and labor trafficking occur within many different settings within communities and victims of these crimes are very diverse. Trafficking victims include foreign nationals and U.S. citizens, both adults and minors, of all genders and sexual orientations. This solicitation places a priority on funding direct services provided by organizations with the capacity to implement a highly collaborative and âÂÂcomprehensiveâ service model, engaging all appropriate community resources, to address the needs of victims of all forms of human trafficking. |
