The Rural Housing Service (RHS) offers the Housing Preservation Grant (HPG) program with a clear purpose: to provide crucial financial assistance for improving living conditions in rural areas. This grant is specifically designed to empower qualified public agencies, private nonprofit organizations—including Faith-Based and Community Organizations—and other eligible entities. Funds are allocated to assist very low- and low-income homeowners in repairing and rehabilitating their residences. Additionally, the HPG program supports rental property owners and cooperative housing complexes, enabling them to repair and rehabilitate units provided they commit to making these units available to low- and very low-income persons. This initiative plays a vital role in preserving and enhancing affordable, safe housing options within rural communities.
