This grant, a joint effort by the YMCA and National Park Service, supports the continuation and expansion of the successful Play, Learn, Serve, Work (PLSW) summer program. Piloted for two years at ten Y and NPS sites, PLSW introduces urban youth to the outdoors and national parks or historic sites. The program will maintain strong efforts at these original locations in 2017. This funding will also enable the launch of PLSW initiatives in up to five new local YMCAs and their corresponding NPS sites. This expansion aims to significantly broaden access to nature-based learning and service opportunities for more youth.
