The Embassy invites U.S. non-profit/non-governmental organizations to submit proposals for a new 5 week high school exchange program which offers about 50 non-elite Mexican youth the opportunity to study and develop their leadership skills in the United States. This new program will be funded as a joint initiative between the Department of State ($150,000 USD) and the Mexican government and business communities ($250,000 USD) for a total grant of approximately $400,000 USD. The grant will be awarded to one organization which will oversee all aspects of program planning and execution, with the actual exchange taking place in July/August 2010.
