This grant is for the purpose of fostering robust community food systems. The Community Food Projects Competitive Grants Program aims to address food insecurity by empowering communities to meet the food needs of low-income individuals. It seeks to increase local self-reliance in food provision and promote comprehensive, integrated responses to local food, farm, and nutrition challenges. Funding supports infrastructure improvement, long-term planning, and innovative marketing activities that mutually benefit agricultural producers and low-income consumers. Additionally, it can establish a Food Security Learning Center, a national information and education clearinghouse operated by a non-governmental organization to bolster community food security initiatives across the nation.
